TEXAS TOAST JAM TURNS 10!

Time flies. Believe it or not, 5/27/21 marks the 10 year anniversary of the first Texas Toast Jam. It was a classic DIY event full of good times and it was followed up with 3 more events.

Jeff Z over at OUR BMX put together a collection of photos he shot so we can all reminisce, and also pulled off a Q&A with Taj about it all. Go HERE to check it out.

PRESS RELEASE:
TOASTED

texas toast jam, 2015

June 26th 2015 – After 4 incredible and positive events, we are sorry to inform everyone that this year’s Texas Toast Jam has been called off.

A few variables beyond our control lead us to this decision, but the bottom line is that we simply could not gather the level of sponsorship support that is required for doing the event properly. Toast is a casual jam and might appear rough around the edges, but in reality it is a lot of work, and it also takes a lot of money to make it happen. We have to pay a legit staff of builders, buy and rent equipment, offer prize money, make sure the judges have pens and cover a million other details in order to keep this international event rolling smoothly. As Odyssey employees, we also organize and manage Toast while juggling all of our everyday work for the brand. It is fair to say that Toast has always been a labor of love for everyone involved in its creation, and because of that we are committed to always doing it properly so we can give the riders, fans and supporters the event that they’ve come to love.

We are bummed that the stars did not align for Toast this year, but there is always 2016. Our fingers are crossed.

Casey Smith rode in the Veteran class jam and won the Vet high air contest. And finally Dennis Enarson wrapped up the weekend qualifying first and then winning the final at the Street comp for the second year in a row.

Footage from Navazio

Navaz just uploaded one hell of an epic Texas Toast video. Between the aerial shots, slow-mos, and clips of Nyquist raising the roof, this video has a ton of great visuals. Hit play if you know what’s good for you.

First, Sean Sexton undoubtedly has one of the best looking whips in BMX. It has that classic Van Homan / Taj Mihelich downside feel to it that just makes me cuss like a sailor each time I witness one happen. Second, click on over to the new Dig Website for a great gallery from Texas Toast!

Complete Highlights

I made this video as a kick off for the Texas Toast awards at NORA Cup…it was made about two hours after the event wrapped up and it’s based off the prelims video (the reason for the same song). But, I still think it does a pretty damn good job of showing how damn good Toast is as a whole. You can pretty much hear people screaming the entire time and the looseness of the event really comes through. It’s something that Toast, no matter how big it gets, should ever lose. I definitely had a great time this weekend and I’d venture to say that Toast is one of, if not the best events in BMX. Already psyched for 2015…
