Show Bike: Fire Engine Red

We have a couple show bikes lingering around our booth and one of them is completely decked out in the Fire Engine Red parts kit we posted a couple days ago. Aside from having the full kit, this bike also has our prototype seat post, which works for both pivotal and railed seats.

(Tall) Bike Check

You may have seen some photos of this tall bike floating around the internet these past few days and we decided to put together a little bike check featuring all of the parts we ended up using to make it happen. The hardest part to make this bike a reality was having a solid steering mechanism (we ended up having to use 4 headsets) and getting the right sprocket size combos to get the chain tension right through out the whole drive-terrain. The end result is a ridiculously tall bike with a lot of parts and a top wheel that rolls backwards when the bike is rolling forwards.

A huge thanks goes out to Rob at CM Speed for doing the welding for us!

Dirt Ron’s Clean Bike

A fan of the candy bar and spontaneous happenings, Ron’s a great dude who knows how to have fun on a bike. What’s Dirt Ron up to these days? Trying to get another job so I don’t have to borrow money to pay rent, spinning signs on the weekends, riding bikes with the buds, hanging out with my babe, beaching since its summer time, maybe going to oregon in a few days.

If your candy bars were literal, edible candy bars, which brand of candy bar would they be and why? I don’t really like sweets but I use to like Twix when I was a kid.

You have a front stoppie on your bike. What are some of your favorite things to do with the front wheel stopping action? I did my first candy bar nose manual the other day. Uh… It always feel cool to do a fakie nosepick and look at the tire on the coping.

What’s that sharpie drawing on your down tube? That’s one of my characters, Duty Wham Shit! I got some others like Doo Doo Brown and Handi Man Swazi Stan. I like to draw.

There’s a part on your bike that’s a bit of rarity these days… it appears to be a post-like product that’s attached to your seat. What’s it doing there? Haahaa. TO THE SKY!!!! Kids these days don’t even know about sitting down. It’s good to have the post up there for no footed nose picks and not landing Twhips to the pedals, stuff like that.

I’m not sure if this has been addressed before but how’d you get the nickname Dirt Ron? I usually just get brutally gross on road trips. I think Hoangs got dibs on the nick name. I like getting things clean and then dirtying them the hell up. I usually don’t stay clean for too long. I don’t smell… I’m just a little dirty.

Other than riding bikes, what else does Dirt Ron consider fun? Drawing, Beaching, Adventures, Drinksies and random events that can’t ever be prepared for.

If somebody was a Dirt Ron groupie, are there any online social networks they could stalk you through? I suppose the MySpace. If someone were to stalk me of all people they’d have to be a little twakked out.

Aaron Ross grip and bike check

A couple bits of Aaron related news. There’s a bike check up over at DigBMX.com and as always, you can count on it being one of the most colorful bikes in BMX. Ocean Blue and Fluorescent Pink in full effect.

His signature grip is also available in white now. If you want to treat your palms to some luxurious softness, these grips are the way to go.

When not breaking collarbones, Nuno‘s been tearing up the trails lately on a Sunday Model D. Jim Cielencki put up his bike check the other day over at Sunday Bikes and there were a handful of extra photos. Instead of letting them collect gigadust in my harddrive, we decided to do an overspill. In case you didn’t know, silver’s the new black and it’s bringing sexy back. “Mario shreds New Mexico terrain all day, all long. He just recently dialed in his new Brosnasnu Pandora with a bunch of fresh ODSY goodies so he decided to shred and get some photos with his new set up. What he didn’t plan on doing after dialing in a new bike was un-dialing his knee… Mario recently got broke off on a toothhanger gone wrong with a case of regretful footdown… Mario’s part of the knee club now and he’s now awaiting more doctor visits and surgery. I don’t know the full extent of his messed up knee but he should be back up and healthy in about 6 weeks… Get well brotherrrrrrr!” – Alex Bermudez

Front and rear stoppies

The last guessing game was a bit of a curve ball with most people guessing Aaron Ross or Terry Adams. If you were to look into a crystal orb (in this case, our Twitter account would be an adequate substitute), you’ll discover they actually belong to Mr. Adam Banton. We sent him a really bright parts kit and he’s done well with them. The black makes the colors pop like crazy and his new bike is looking dope. Check it out above (photos by Jeff Hall).
