Built-in Race, Race.

The newest version of the Race Fork has a built-in race that is dedicated to integrated headsets, and it will also work with any "normal" headset that has a 45 degree lower raceway. No more hammering a headset race on the fork - it's built in.

Available now on the Race Fork Classic (CS2). Coming soon on Director Forks, Freestyle Forks, and the Flat Fork Classic. Dirt Forks will continue to use a "traditional" steerer tube that is compatible with all of the popular headset types.

they should make the cup screwable to the fork, therefore no need to be bangin things in,but this is great.its stronger.

That is great. whats the news on the senior 2 seat

Awesome Idea. Saves time and a fractional bit of weight, but makes everything strong and accurate! Can't wait to see these bad boys in action.

"whats the news on the senior 2 seat"

Nobody ever claimed the built-in race as "original", and if someone did, they would have to look to road and mtb's for the genesis of it anyway.

It's just a case of; The forks have been updated, and here's the information on them - the end. Simple as that.

wow i like how you guys will offer this on directors and i just ordered mine wtf

Posted by: nopobmxer01 at March 6, 2008 10:51 AM

There's nothing wrong with the version that takes the press-on race, and you would have to wait at least a month or two before the newer version is available.

Posted by: Chris from Odyssey at March 6, 2008 11:09 AM

smart move with keeping the dirt fork "traditional".
most of the newer integrated headsets have a compression-style race that slides right on, but stays put once everything's tight, so there's no hammering or banging it on anyway.

saw a dude break his pedal boss clean off his wombolts last week. couldn't believe it.

"here's the information on them - the end" hilarious.

There are other significant benefits; building the headset race into the steerer tube can increase the strength in this area (by eliminating tight corner transitions and thickening the material's cross-section), additionally, the weight remains unchanged.

With all this new updates is it possible we'll see a director w/990 mounts? I know front brakes are lame now, but the Oct. 2 2006 announcement of the fork said "optional brake mounts". I guess you would have to drill a hole in the bottom, or maybe in the fork leg, any plans on this at all? I'm probably the only one that wants it, making it an economically stupid option. Thanks for rocking.

We've always planned to do a brake version of the Director Fork, and it will happen at some point. It's just a matter of having a lot of different projects all going on at the same time...and as you've pointed out, there's more to it than simply welding some u-brake mounts on. Perhaps by Interbike? Still hard to say right now.

g'day.
a little off topic, but, my wombolts keep coming loose after a few days solid riding. did i set them up wrong or is this normal?
extremely happy with them otherwise, when theyre loose they dont wobble! amazing! that wedge cluster is amazingly effective.
keep up the good work guys. impressive to say the least.

good plan odyssey

Posted by: gardner at March 7, 2008 02:40 AM

Dave-
Try adding another 1mm (thinnest one provided) spacer on the non-drive side. In most instances where the cranks come loose a lot it is because there is not enough spacers for the Wedges to be seated properly. Add a spacer, crank them down tight and if it still happen try another 1mm spacer till they stay tight. Hope this helps!-ben

Fuuucck! Well, I guess there's always the Dirt Forks.

Posted by: Chris at March 9, 2008 10:52 PM

How much lighter does the Kevlar make each (different model) tire?

Why did you go from great, dependable regular brake pad nuts to allen head crap?

What happened to the Trailmix Magnesium Sealed Pedals? It's quite a significant time since it's expected Thanksgiving release....
