FRIDAY SMORGASBORD

Somebody asked about white Trailmix pedals a week or two ago. Here's a photo, although I'm not sure when these will be available. (My guess would be a month or two.) Gold and high-polished will be in shops in 3-4 weeks, pending inspection.

CHASE GOUIN BARS
These are in the final stages of testing, and should be available relatively soon. I'll post an update when I have more. The 6 degree back and upsweep model will be out first.

Chase "B.S. Bar": 8 inches tall // 26 inches wide // 6 degrees upsweep // 6 degrees backsweep // 1 lb. 9.5 oz. // Black // 41-Thermal Lifetime Warranty

Chase "No B.S. Bar": 7.675 inches tall // 25 inches wide // 3 degrees upsweep // 0 degrees backsweep // 1 lb. 9 oz. (approx.) // Black // 41-Thermal Lifetime Warranty

2007.75 FLATLAND FORKS

While we're talking about flatland, the Classic Flatland Forks are in production for zero and regular offset, and should be available within the next month or two. We will be making these in small batches, so this should give us the freedom to change options depending on the order. For example, we'd be able to do future batches of the regular offset with "removable mounts", or the zero offset fork with "no mounts", and so on. "Director-style" Flatland forks are a possibility, but there are no solid plans as of this date.

Regular Offset Fork: 2 lbs. 2 oz. (uncut 190mm steerer tube with pre-load bolt installed) // Tapered legs are pushed inward and notched on the inside // 5mm "regular offset" dropouts with radiused outer edges // Extended “Classic Race” steerer tube with 07 crown junction and front cable slot // 3/8” axle slots // flush-mount, cable friendly, 7075 pre-load bolt // Welded brake mounts // Rustproof finishing prior to powdercoating // Black, Limited // 41-Thermal Lifetime Warranty

Zero Offset Fork: 2 lbs. 3 oz. (uncut 190mm steerer tube with pre-load bolt installed) // Tapered legs are pushed inward and notched on the inside // 5mm "zero offset" dropouts with radiused outer edges // Extended “Classic Race” steerer tube with 07 crown junction and front cable slot // 3/8” axle slots // flush-mount, cable friendly, 7075 pre-load bolt // Removable brake mounts // Rustproof finishing prior to powdercoating // Black, Limited // 41-Thermal Lifetime Warranty

those look like some pretty sweet bars, kinda remind me of flatland bars and i dont understand how those dont bend but then again with 41 thermal anything is possible

They ARE flatland bars!!

Posted by: Chris from Odyssey at September 7, 2007 05:56 PM

So happy that Ody is still a force in the flatland scene.

flatland bars with 6 degrees sweep wtf

Posted by: Josh at September 7, 2007 06:55 PM

can u do a chase gouin bike check of his flatland bike i wanna see it i thinks its awesome u made signature flatland bars hes my fav

Posted by: Joe at September 7, 2007 06:57 PM

why would you make flatland forks and not use the director design? that director design is perfect for flatland!

Posted by: b at September 7, 2007 07:09 PM

The long steerer tube is great! Keep that when you do the director version. And why didn't you guys just make the dang director version? Also, you need to make the 14mm fronts again! Many of us are actually hard on our front axles too! 3/8" axles suck for pegs, period. How about a light weight 14mm vandero type hub!

Posted by: yaR at September 7, 2007 07:37 PM

I agree. do 14mm hubs and forks. I am a street rider but i do love the shorter offset of your older flatland forks. but without 14mm slots, i can't run the new forks because pegs kill 10mm axles pretty quickly!

Posted by: Rolley at September 7, 2007 09:08 PM

where are the pledals?

Posted by: LSUrules at September 8, 2007 01:27 AM

Thanks a lot Chris! I love you! I love Odyssey!

Posted by: Daniil at September 8, 2007 03:29 AM

There are some things that I still don't understand:

1. Why brake mounts are removable on zero offset version, but welded on regular offset version? Same thing was with 2005 forks.

2. How much of steerer tube can I cut? And is it advisable to cut the steerer tube or add some spacers?

3. With what pegs diameter in mind were the dropouts designed, i.e. if I use some 1.5" pegs, will the dropouts stick out, or be flush or stay behind?

4. The forks are going to cost like Race forks, aren't they?

5. Man, I can't tell how happy I am now! Chris, THANK YOU again!

Posted by: Daniil at September 8, 2007 04:41 AM

Oh and I forgot to ask: the Chase bars are in fact two-piece, aren't they?

Posted by: Daniil at September 8, 2007 04:44 AM

I am so stoked on the Chase bars.

Posted by: Aleks at September 8, 2007 02:46 PM

oh shit, i was thinking of chase hawk, sorry, idiot moment

Posted by: dan at September 8, 2007 04:40 PM

i seriously thought u guys were making director-style flat forks with zero offset :[

Posted by: adrian from 1979 at September 9, 2007 07:42 PM

sweet as fuck! im just going to get the zero offset forks instead of waiting for zero offset directors, removable brake mounts FOR THE WIN!

Posted by: jross at September 10, 2007 06:31 PM

Posted by: vb at September 10, 2007 11:29 PM

Posted by: bro-g at September 11, 2007 02:27 AM

1.“flatland bars with 6 degrees sweep wtf”

ODSY: Chase wanted 6 degrees, so that’s what he gets. In the late 80’s “flatland” bars (Haro Kneesavers) had a lot of up and backsweep. There is also a more “modern” zero-sweep model that will be available.

2. "can u do a chase gouin bike check of his flatland bike i wanna see it"

ODSY: I asked Chase for some photos. We’ll see what happens.

3. "why would you make flatland forks and not use the director design?"

ODSY: The Director Forks need special tooling. It is very possible that we will do Director-style flatland forks sometime in 2008, but it’s hard to say for sure.

4. "where are the pledals?"

ODSY: In the pre-production stages.

5. "Why brake mounts are removable on zero offset version, but welded on regular offset version?"

ODSY: We’ve found that people running “regular offset” tend to use brakes more frequently than people running zero offset. As I said in the original post, we will be able to make batches for each version in different configurations.

6. "How much of steerer tube can I cut? And is it advisable to cut the steerer tube or add some spacers?"

ODSY: You can cut approximately 20mm of steerer tube off before hitting the threads. You can do whatever suits you best (cut the tube, add spacers, etc.).

7. "With what pegs diameter in mind were the dropouts designed, i.e. if I use some 1.5" pegs, will the dropouts stick out, or be flush or stay behind?"

ODSY: The dropouts would basically be flush with 1.5” pegs.

8. "The forks are going to cost like Race forks, aren't they?"

ODSY: They should be priced like the Classic Freestyle Fork.

9. "the Chase bars are in fact two-piece, aren't they?"

ODSY: They are four piece.

10. "would phat widow cranks be advisable for hard street?"

ODSY: Eh, not really. Jim Bauer rode them for a long time, and never had a problem, but there are better options available.

11. "you need to make Wombolts in 160mm."

ODSY: We should be making more arm sizes in 2008.

Posted by: Chris from Odyssey at September 11, 2007 11:33 AM

^ sorry i meant CHRIS.
whoops

Posted by: kirk at September 11, 2007 04:18 PM

12. "can we buy the trailmix pedals in the uk now? and where?"

ODSY: We are working on our distribution for the UK, and will be posting news soon on "where" and "when" you'll be able to get everything. Sorry about the wait. Everything should be sorted soon.

Posted by: Chris from Odyssey at September 12, 2007 11:25 AM

bro-g, i was using "10ft drops" as a reference because the norm for street these days is a wallride to 180 or a tailwhip offa curb. i actually did want a 19" hamilton until i realized i didnt have the$$$, but you were just bein a dick.

Posted by: kirk at September 12, 2007 10:10 PM

"11. "you need to make Wombolts in 160mm."

ODSY: We should be making more arm sizes in 2008."

Can you be more specific? Spring, summer, fall?

I'm really antsy.

Posted by: Aleks at September 13, 2007 02:28 AM

good to see odyssey still involved in flatland.
there are a lot more flat riders out there than you think.
coverage is just sorta underground...

bars and forks look dope. i'm runnin' freestyle classics right now...and they are the best forks I've ever had.

thanks chris, george, jim, and nuno...(and everyone else) glad I'm not seeing flying wedge bars in the odyssey line up anymore....
