August 24, 2007JC'S TRAILMIX IN STOCKHere's the first post about the products in our latest shipment. I'll put more info up next week on things like the Vandero 2 wheels, Director Forks, etc... JIM CIELENCKI TRAILMIX PEDAL - Same shape, materials and spindles as the original JC pedal. Made at the request of riders like Taj, and some of JC's other friends, the Trailmix is a lighter-weight version of the original pedal (still in production) that leans more toward trail riding with it's longer pins, slimmer bridges, and knurl-free gripping surface. The pedals also feature our new 17mm hex-end spindle wrench flats that will accept the width of most adjustable wrenches - helping to simplify assembly when traveling (6mm allen key slot also included). Our first delivery is looseball, black aluminum only. These should be at distributors and shops in roughly two weeks. Other colors and options will be available at a later date. *The original JC looseball aluminum pedals are 24.8 ounces (for the pair). Posted by Chris at August 24, 2007 05:07 PMComments
First! Posted by: Ben at August 24, 2007 06:16 PMsick. fuck mosh pedals, these are my new pedals =] Posted by: mike at August 24, 2007 07:13 PMHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Posted by: belnapp at August 24, 2007 07:35 PMhmm, i have mixed feelings about the new installation interfaces Posted by: Fabian Venegas at August 24, 2007 08:23 PMI'm glad you guys did the Allen key interface, not completely sure what to think of the 17mm flats though. Do the director forks next! Posted by: Pablo at August 24, 2007 08:59 PMas long as its a hex spindle, and you can put an allen key in there just for the hell of it, its a winning design. Every pedal needs to be a little wider and accept an adjustable wrench! Posted by: Chris at August 25, 2007 12:13 AMWhat does "organtic" mean? Posted by: Daniil at August 25, 2007 01:56 AMI like it! Posted by: constantin at August 25, 2007 04:56 AMOh and will you tell us anything about the new Flatland forks? Thanks! Posted by: Daniil at August 25, 2007 07:28 AMthe gold pedals would go really good with the new gold down low parts from fit, but shhhh ! someone is bound to take my idea, haha Posted by: ryan at August 25, 2007 11:47 AMwhy on earth would you deviate from the 100% UNIVERSAL ACROSS CYCLING AS A WHOLE 15mm wrench flat? this is like trek coming up with their own sizing for bb's and headsets on the new madone bike. Posted by: h at August 25, 2007 01:21 PMBecause that standard is hardly a critical one, and making this change is a very significant improvement? You never have an adjustable wrench, a 17 OR a 6mm allen key handy, but you always carry a pedal wrench!? This change allows for a far greater wrench-flat surface area, which in turn allows for a greater range of tools that can be used. Not to mention that 17mm is already a common size for things like axle nuts. What other common part on a BMX bike uses the dedicated pedal wrench size? Ancient standards like the Euro BB that Trek has disregarded, SHOULD BE disregarded when designing a carbon fiber road frame. A standard that forces the use of threads at a critical interface when working with carbon fiber is a huge limitation. Nice pedals there, but I dont see the point for the 17mm wrench... nice it works with adjustable wrenches, but 15 w was good, no reason to change Posted by: pedro at August 25, 2007 01:59 PMwhy's the smooth surface??won't it be more slippery this way?i know the pins are bigger, but i think many people will change them to smaller ones.great pedals though!!!! Posted by: ambrus at August 25, 2007 03:44 PMyeah my axels are 17mm and so is my fork compresison bolt and ive always been pissed about haveing to use all of my strength on that lil 15mm cause im to cheap to buy the pedal wrench because of the leverage Wonderful, I cant wait to get the sealed polish finish model. I have always thought they should make a sealed version of it, and now its lighter as well. That is of course unless they make a polished version of the lighter magnesium model? How exotic that would look. Posted by: william at August 25, 2007 06:37 PMWhat does "organtic" mean? And will you tell us anything about the new Flatland forks? Thanks! Posted by: Daniil at August 25, 2007 10:21 PMWHY didnt you guys 41thermal wombolts?!?!?!?!!?!?! woops, SHIRT not SHIT. Posted by: kirk at August 25, 2007 10:25 PMWombolt's are 41 Thermal. Pegs, Axles, Spindles and most other steel products have some sort of heat treating done to them, or at least they should. Posted by: ben at August 25, 2007 11:52 PMHey kirk, why didn't you go rad because the Plegs update is scheduled on Monday or Tuesday next week? Posted by: Daniil at August 26, 2007 01:32 AM^ he gave up on pegs, remember? Posted by: belnapp at August 26, 2007 09:14 AMAh yeah! Yeah I remember. It makes sense now. Posted by: Daniil at August 26, 2007 09:55 AMi cant wait! my wellgos shit the bed so i need new ones. sealed gold for sure! Posted by: eh? at August 26, 2007 02:36 PMdid you have real trail riders test these? not aitken or some one who rides the ocasional trails but someone who rides every day wet dry and muddy? having a slick surface is not the best idea, you should have made a pin design that doesnt atract dirt and not the body it self. i will buy these becuase they are the best yet but would have liked to see a TRUE trail pedal for the trails not the dirt jumps................... Posted by: mathyou at August 26, 2007 02:43 PMdick first of all... great pedal. second of all, i still dont understand why people write nothing but negative comments on this blog board? i mean i understand people have certain preferences and a little constructive criticism is good, but dont go on for 2 paragraphs about how u are pissed cause the size of the spindle is 17 mm instead of the old 15mm. if you dont like it you dont have to buy it, or look at it or even care. also a bigger spindle bolt wont hurt, thats like complaining that an axle is 14mm instead of 3/8. also the lack of knurls can be a little bit of a problem, but im sure if u buy some grip tape and cut it to the size of the pedals it should work good, like they do on the rueben pedals. p.s. great idea with the 6mm hex hole on the spindle, that same idea with the hex hole on the axles for my ody wheels helped out so much wen i had trouble gettin the conenuts off. Posted by: dan at August 26, 2007 05:20 PM". What other common part on a BMX bike uses the dedicated pedal wrench size?" my axle nuts? Posted by: ryan at August 26, 2007 07:30 PMThe most common axle nut size is 17mm, though. By far. Posted by: CJ7 at August 27, 2007 09:27 AMorgantic?????????????????? Posted by: ju at August 27, 2007 09:32 AMIn regards to the "true" trial riders comment, please note the original text from the post; "Made at the request of riders like Taj, and some of JC's other friends, the Trailmix is a lighter-weight version of the original pedal (still in production) that leans more toward trail riding with it's longer pins, slimmer bridges, and knurl-free gripping surface." It is by no means intended as "trails-only" pedal. It's simply the original JC pedal, "mixed" with more trail inspired characteristics. The original pedal was made with JC's street riding in mind. The Trailmix takes that design and gives it more flexibility. "Organtic" is an inside joke made by one of the team riders. Flatland Forks are in production. More information will be posted soon. Posted by: Chris from Odyssey at August 27, 2007 10:09 AMThanks a lot for finally letting me know, and I'm sorry to ask, but what do you mean by "soon"? Will you post an update in the following days along with the updates on Plegs, Director forks and stuff like that? Thanks in advance for replying. Posted by: Daniil at August 27, 2007 10:33 AMman f directors..... better be soon or else Posted by: brog at August 27, 2007 01:19 PMFlatland Forks: I'll check with Jim B to see what we have for photos later this week. (He's out of the office until mid-week.) will the plastic jcs have metal pins? Posted by: idnA at August 28, 2007 05:57 PMYou guys should make this exact pedal with a plastic body and replaceable metal pins. Hopefully these come with a shorter set of pins too. Posted by: cm08 at September 1, 2007 11:29 AMi want these soo bad my bike is mostly s&m and odyssey besides the pedals cause i dont really like the jim c pedals cause the pins suck do these come sealed and if i break and wombolt can i get a new one with no recept Posted by: that kid at September 10, 2007 07:41 PMMy experience with knurled pedals and trails was that dirt seemed to stick to the knurling which made the pedal slicker. Getting rid of the knurling may aid this. I guess everyone has different experiences but that mine. Look good. Posted by: Wal at September 10, 2007 09:53 PM |
