CHROME EVO2 BRAKES

Limited Chrome Evo2 brakes available now.

Some minor running changes with this batch and the latest shipment of anodized black brakes include:

1. New forge tooling that provides for a sleeker side profile.
2. All of the cable set screws are now flat-tipped to prevent excess damage to the cable's inner wire.
3. Cable lugs are smaller and use a 10mm hex head.
4. Pre-lugged straddle cable is shorter.
5. Front cable adapter is smaller and made of aluminum.
6. Updated instruction sheet.

All of the current and scheduled future batches have these running changes.

Posted by: Chris from Odyssey at June 29, 2007 04:30 PM

Damn those are nice, if I rode with brakes I would be rockin those.

Also guys, with the LE color ways why dont you start making the Lumberjacks in LE colors? I would love to have a full set of LE colors and be able to run Lumberjacks.

BTW Teal is the best looking color way you guys have ever put out, with Fluroscent yellow a close second.

Posted by: Vinny_A at June 29, 2007 05:14 PM

I wish I could afford brakes right now. It's one of the few parts that truly looks good with chrome.

Posted by: Guyroy at June 29, 2007 05:33 PM

i bet one of the reasons aaron ross changed his color is that he couldn't find a yellow stairmaster anymore haha i wish i had his bike though

Posted by: belnapp at June 29, 2007 08:34 PM

^his new green bike is dope. he needs to control himsel and quit throwing his bike, its just too dialed to treat like that. chill bro section is crazy, so is hawks part.

Posted by: mush at July 1, 2007 08:14 PM

hey mathyou, just get demolition or revenge brakes, they have ball bearings instead of bushings

Posted by: belnapp at July 3, 2007 01:59 PM

belnapp, i dont like them that much, to me they are just as good as some hombres. i made some custom bushings that are threaded and put them in my flys and they work great so far.

Ihateodyssey: First of all, trolling their own blog in order to dis their products and promote the products of another company is just bad form. It makes no sense. of course they are going to edit your crap out.

Also, most of the people who read and respond to these blogs, as nasty and retarded as we can be, have a certain amount of intelligence. Your posts aren't intelligent at all. They're annoying and perfectly likely to get deleted. Act like a silly willy nilly pilly dummy and we're going to treat you like a silly willy nilly pilly dummy.

Posted by: kirk at July 4, 2007 08:36 PM

i love wen i havent checked out the odyssey website in a couple days and i look at the comments and it went from like 5 to 35 and the next 30 comments are just of people arguing back and forth... is this what bmx is really about? c'mon guys... what ever happened to just riding ur bike? maybe im just old fashioned?

Posted by: dan at July 4, 2007 08:57 PM

bmx is whatever each of us as individuals make of it. If some of us make a fight out of it, then bmx is at least partially defined by our fight.

The world wide web happened to "just riding ur bike"...

...Now guys like me can spend time heckling Odyssey and others about crap, rather than ride. :)

Posted by: Guyroy at July 4, 2007 10:53 PM

Thats why Im´not gonna post crap about anyone or any company anymore I dig my bike and I was letting it make a negative person out of me. Odsy S&M Primo WTP FIT Drive Federal Etc Etc. they are all badass companies with endless potential! KUDOS to all of them for making killer parts for my bike!!

Posted by: wethefeeble at July 5, 2007 08:41 AM

Well Happy 4th to you all!

Ahh what nice comments to come back to.

Well don't hate Odyssey, hate me! I'm usually the one who deletes comments around here. If you use racial, homophobic, sexist, or just downright stupid language on here, I have every right to delete your comments. Sometimes people post so many things at once, that fall into those catagories, I just delete all recent posts by that author.

This is a site to give information, guidance, advice, help and all around community interaction, revolving around, but not limited to, Odyssey products, ideals, riders, etc etc.

It is also a place to come to get FACTUAL information, to the best of our knowledge, on Odyssey products. You can get made up, knee jerk, biased info anywhere else on BMX boards, so this is a place where you can trust the infomation from the few proffesionals that work here. If there is inflamatory or un-educated comments that really have no basis for being negative or reactionary, I have every right to monitor and delete posts that could confuse or mis-inform the knowledge seeking riders who come here to have access to information. I try not to delete posts strictly on negative aspects, but sometimes the comments on here get down right libelous and constitute slander. Just trying to keep this a place where people want to return and continue to read and share information. No one wants to read through 39 posts of two or three guys yelling at each other. There are a million other sites to do that.

Thanks for those who contribute to this forum.

you know wat jim b your good but i was angry that i had many problems with your products that is why i am retaliating on odyssey your wheels suck as do your stems thats why erbody these days rides profile hubs and s&m stems and profile cranks just cuz your a big company does not mean you are better then everybody else just deal with it ok make a better hub and stems and you are mad at macneil cuz they have better seats then you and your cheap and wont pay royalties to them so if you have a chance jump off a cliff odyssey and end the bull-shit your all about

Posted by: ihateodyssey at July 5, 2007 11:21 AM

jim b, are you testing a pivitol junior saddle? that would be a great idea hey?

Posted by: olly 1 at July 5, 2007 11:52 AM

well, after all that moaning, i like my odyssey stem, brakes, brake lever and pedals., my bikeis made up of pretty much every bmx brand going, and ive ridden pretty much must oartys going as welll. Just coz someones parts dont work for you, doesnt mean that you have to moan constantley about it, consider, what type of style do you ride, and does it sut that intended for the part, have you assembled/kept it qwell maintained.odysseys parts are the best in my view if kept well maintained so look at thast sort of stuff. in the end, these are all BMX COMPANIES that support riders and bmxing as a whole.lets al jus try an stop bitching about parts an shit, and ride god damn little bikes

"just cause you're a big company does not mean you're better than everyone else".

I don't think we've ever claimed to be "better" than anyone. That's your blind leap into assumptionland. We employ ten people at the moment. I'd be willing to bet that most of the other companies you've mentioned are actually "bigger" than we are (not that the size of a company even matters, or that a "big company" should be synonymous with "bad").

You're always more than welcome to contact us directly (phone, e-mail) if you have a problem with one of our products. Complaining anonymously on here accomplishes nothing, and is essentially on par with "spitting into the wind".

Posted by: dan at July 6, 2007 06:32 PM

hey chris, if you guys only employ 10 people, who do you guys outsource to produce all the odyssey parts?

Posted by: dan at July 6, 2007 10:07 PM

^^^^^^^^^ooooooooooooooooo that's a burn!

Posted by: belnapp at July 7, 2007 09:45 AM

Are you haters serious? In a completely non-biased opinion odyssey is the best company out there. IHateOdyssey: how are those S&M warranty's treating you because i had S&M forks too. There are complete crap. I can't think of another company more innovative or consumer friendly in the BMX industry. Tell me this, if odyssey sucks as bad as you say then why is Jim C's pedal the most popular one in bmx today? I love odyssey through and through because they are a respectable, reliable, reputable company that will do anything for the customer. Ill run my wombolts, lumberjack's, trigger lever, linear cable, and evo 2's till there is nothing left of them.

Posted by: adam at July 7, 2007 02:12 PM

i wasnt trying to burn odyssey, i was just saying, odyssey produces so many products, its kinda hard to have only 10 people do all that work, so who makes the finished product that ends up on my bike?

Posted by: dan at July 7, 2007 04:56 PM

Why do you think it takes so long when they are prototype's. Testing and production. That's why it takes time. 10 people that do it right.

Posted by: adam at July 7, 2007 06:39 PM

i understand the prototypes but who manufacters the parts?

Posted by: dan at July 7, 2007 06:56 PM

Most likely the same as every other company, which when you think about it is good. I don't think that there should be so much damn competition. As long as they deliver a good honest part, who cares?

Posted by: adam at July 7, 2007 07:15 PM

its not that i completly hate this company but there really over rated wow they have some good shit but before odyssey who was makin all the good shit? and who did odsy steal there dimensions from to make the awsome lumberjacks? so yah they are a good company but still not all there shit is good there hubs sucks i would know and elementarys work for some people when a redneck can take a fulll speed fall and not even move! so its not all me bein a dick its just people need to open there eyes sometimes

Posted by: ihateodyssey at July 7, 2007 08:40 PM

ill ride my profile wheels and cranks and my s&m front end completly you dont need odsy to make a kick-ass bike ask my freind he rides a S&M STRICKER with out one odsy part

Posted by: ihateodyssey at July 7, 2007 08:42 PM

thats cool. pretty rare for somebody to have not one odyssey part on thier bike. at least 75% of my bike is odyssey because of the 41thermal warranties and their all-around badass reputation. bot one bad thing except for a tweak in my old twisted pedals, and i got some jc's today. and ihateodyssey, you should change your title to idislikeodyssey or iwouldratherhaveans&mcomponentthenodyssey. it just sounds friendlier because inside your little heart you like something about some sort of odyssey part. i hit my head on a tree today. (quite large) tree-ride to 180 trying to come back down all clean, my front tire went over the side, back one did not. face plant. i walked over to another tree that was nicer(because it didnt make me in pain) , and sat by it. second time too. damn i sure can get carried away when im lonely at night.

Posted by: kirk at July 7, 2007 10:31 PM

not, not bot. word.

Posted by: kirk at July 7, 2007 10:33 PM

You hang around with trees and let them beat you up, no wonder youre lonely.

people in taiwan and machines make odyssey parts

Posted by: belnapp at July 8, 2007 10:48 AM

kirk you seriouly are brain washed with this garantee thing. primo dont offer warantee and still do lfetime warrantee had my hollow bite since they forst came out and they gave my brand new one no questions asked. primo make better parts than odyssey kirk. How many primo cranks have you heard breaking whereas odyssey has factory loads broken cranks thanks to you guys that are brain washed into the Lifetime Warantee bullCrap.
Seriously ADAM. dont be a FISH the Distributer gives the warantee and its up to them. they replace everything they would that i not questionable. So f... off

Posted by: riz at July 8, 2007 02:05 PM

i can count plenty of times my bike has fallen to flat on the cranks and my profile cranks nor my animal pedals bent hmmmm wat a couinsadince
thet did not bend odsy does make some good stuff but not all the best stuff

Haha, this is funny. Primo offered you newer cranks because their older ones, especially their first ones, were flawed. Of course they didn't ask any questions, they already knew what was up.

Odyssey replaces broken bars and forks under the shadiest of circumstances. It's my experience that unless you blatantly smashed your stuff against a tree to get it warrantied, they'll warranty it. Even if you aren't the original buyer. I'm not speaking for Odyssey when I say this, I am however speaking from personal experience. They're really great about that kind of thing.

The distributor communicates and speaks for the companies it works with, but distros do not have complete control over warranty issues. Sometimes distros have to make judgement calls and sometimes the decisions they make may not be in alignment with what Odyssey would want, which is why Odyssey tells us to e-mail them personally if we have any issues.

Primo doesn't offer a guarantee, so more power to them if they helped you out regardless.

Odyssey does offer a guarantee though and they follow through with it; that's why we love them. Don't tell us to "f... off" just because we all don't think like you(thankfully)...

Posted by: Guyroy at July 8, 2007 03:51 PM

wow, that was well put.

Posted by: kirk at July 8, 2007 04:06 PM

my bike is all odsy expect like 5 parts that are all american made. every company is basically the same everything is taiwan unless american made. i buy parts that i like and not something that everyone else likes because i want my bike to fit my riding style not someone elses.

Posted by: mush at July 8, 2007 04:08 PM

Hey mush, I like your way of thinking.

But all Taiwanese made stuff is definitely not the same. Different companies demand different amounts of quality/quality control/testing and such, which means Taiwan made products greatly differ depending on the company designing them.

Odyssey is a great example. They demand the best and take steps to make sure they get the best. They go the extra mile with it. Which is why their stuff is so sought after.

That being said I enjoy american made stuff the most. :)

Posted by: adam at July 8, 2007 10:14 PM

Thanks Adam. Don't get me wrong though, I speak my mind and sometimes that means saying a thing or two that Odyssey, or any other company for that matter, might not appreciate. :)

Posted by: Guyroy at July 8, 2007 10:21 PM

alright i usually dont comment this thing but seeing how many people are hating on odyssey makes me kinda pissed. i have profile cranks and i would love to get some wombolts because in my case those profiles dont hold up they are bent sooo bad but i keep riding them because not all people have enough money to get a new part when they need one. i would love to be able to buy a new part when i need it. you people need to stop bitching and ride for the real reason to ride...because you love to do it. i would never dis a company on their products profile cranks are great and all but the ody parts i have and used to have never once gave me a problem thanks odyssey for the great products i own and the ones i cant afford and would love to have

I think this thread has run its course, so I'm going to close it.
