Wombolts.

As always, Chris has included some great drawings for instructions and tips on how to get the most out of your Odyssey products. These come with your Wombolts, which are in transit to our distributors (in small quantities for this first batch), so shops can have them any day now. Enjoy.

what size/side combinations are in this first batch?

Posted by: jason at July 26, 2006 09:57 AM

what kind of a guarantee are these going to have? if they bend, will i get a whole new pair? i bent two of your 41thermal spindles already.

Posted by: chet at July 26, 2006 10:14 AM

they seme complicated, but cool

Posted by: adam at July 26, 2006 12:55 PM

Don't be scared. The installation is incredibly simple, actually.

The arms AND spindle are guaranteed for life against bending and breaking.

The first batch is 175 mm only, with 180 and 165 to follow.

170's are likely to show up at some point also.

so what is the weight of those cranks including a mid bb?

Posted by: malsoke at July 26, 2006 03:01 PM

and why do you say that the installation is incredibly simple when in the instructions it says THIS CRANKSET SHOULD BE ISTALLED BY A PROFESSIONAL BIYCYCLE MECHANIC

Posted by: fjenlf at July 26, 2006 03:13 PM

how will you accommodate left hand drivetrains?

Posted by: nick at July 26, 2006 06:05 PM

sexy

Posted by: nick at July 26, 2006 07:45 PM

Left hand drive specific cranks will be available.

The pro mechanic suggestion is for your safety and ours.

The weight is 1 lb 13 oz for everything EXCEPT the BB. You'll have to weigh that on your own since it's not included.

im seriously thinking about getting a set if these over my hollowbites, they really do look good.

Posted by: Jon at July 27, 2006 11:28 AM

How is anyone supposed to roll on x's? Come on chris. if youre going to draw techincal diagrams, atleast use meaningful representation. X's look like openings, not bearings. Tictactoe that bitch and make that "X" an "O"

Posted by: Matt leach at July 27, 2006 11:54 AM

Posted by: jake at July 27, 2006 11:40 PM

I wonder how many people sent money to that. Hahah. If it were actually legit it would have been an odyssey email address i.e. "_____@odyssey.com" instead of hotmail.

im a mechanical drafter and a bike rider im actually working on some assembly intructions right now... but these are superb.. some of the guys at work dont believe in creativity but i give it my all!

Posted by: yovany at July 28, 2006 03:37 PM

im still wondering if theres gonna be chrome wombolts

Posted by: richardkelly at July 31, 2006 11:39 AM

The new fly cranks aren't a two-peice design. Each crank arm is separate from the spindle - one side of the spindle is just machined with excess material on one end so you only need one bolt to tighten everything down. The Odyssey Cranks are made up of one crank arm and one crank arm that is permanently attatched to the spindle.

Posted by: Nate Lasovich at August 1, 2006 12:12 PM

so when do you think these will be hitting the uk shops?

Posted by: Jamie at August 1, 2006 12:32 PM

Posted by: Justin at August 3, 2006 09:01 AM

Pain in the ass cranks you cant run them with these sprockets profile, tree, hoffman dinky, fly, and some of the Fit ultralight sprockets will not fit
