January 04, 2006"ACQUIRED" WOODNoel Campbell, who is in iraq, had sent me an email inquiring about the release date of the Wombolt cranks. I had happened to ask "how was it over there?", and he replied with what you would expect, "it's tough" etc... but...He also mentioned that he was able to build a ramp out there (over time) with some "acquired" wood, all by himself. I will let the photos speak for themselves. You gotta respect that. Hopefully we will get some riding pictures soon.. Posted by Nuno O at January 4, 2006 06:56 PMComments
That is awesome Noel. But how is it riding in Combat boots? Posted by: Adam Banton at January 4, 2006 09:39 PMthat's must be pretty amazing to think that you could be one of the first people to ride in a whole country. maybe odyssey could organize some sort of team tour to scout out unridden parts of the world? oh, and the ramp looks pretty sweet. Posted by: quis at January 4, 2006 09:53 PMits cool to see that the troops still stick to their roots and that this guy made a ramp. god bless the troops and i hope this guy comes home soon so he can shred on american soil. Posted by: Gamache at January 4, 2006 11:14 PMThere is really nothing to say other than that is just AWESOME! That's rad that he's serving our country so others can be safe, and then to see that in his free time he's built a ramp and is gonna be riding in his off time. That's the coolest. Big up to Noel Campbell and the rest of the troops. Woot woot! Posted by: Cale at January 5, 2006 12:34 AMthe military just isn't what it used to be. hehe. Posted by: Mark at January 6, 2006 04:38 AMAll you guys whop commented on this; thanks for your support. I appreciate it and am proud to have served in Iraq for the past year. I had a friend ship my bike, tools, and pads to me when I was halfway done with it. The whole thing toomk 4 months since I was by myself and had very little time to work on it every day. The desert wind is a pain in the ass! Some animal ate the foam out of my pads, too... Nick, I'm coming home in mid January. Can't wait to see you guys. Adam, I went to the 95 Hoffman comp in Hampton, VA with Mike Vincent and Bobby Fisher. Remember the guy on rollerblades you met in Manassas way back? That was me, dude.
