Posted by: Lucas at October 11, 2005 03:52 AMHow wide are the clamps on the M2s? Posted by: Aleks at October 11, 2005 04:43 AMYEAH MAN,.. ODYSSEY!!! Posted by: BIKER ON ODYSSEY at October 11, 2005 04:55 AMSince no one answered my email, maybe I could get an answer here? It has nothing to do with these bars, even thought hey're pretty cool. I need 'em wider and taller like the triumph bars! Anyway, I sent an email a while back regarding steerer tube length on the butted race fork. How long is it from the top to the bearing race seat? Any help would be appreciated. Posted by: john at October 11, 2005 06:18 AMHi, By the way, why aren't the M2 cables linear? them gary bars look sweet will they be thge same price as civilians and are they lighter ? Posted by: key at October 11, 2005 04:02 PMDragonfly/Snafu cables have a cumbersome point of connection at the brake lever, and this is less than ideal for some riders, particularly flatlanders. With the M2 lever everything is internal. And the "huge" barrel adjuster has been drastically reduced in size when compared to the original Modulever. I should also point out that this type of adjuster also offers a substantial benefit in that it's very difficult to bend or damage them (unlike most conventional levers). "Bursting" Linear Cables are down to an improper installation. Be sure to use the brass fitting on the end that's been cut to size, and make sure it's properly seated before using the cable. ================== The Race Fork steerer tube length is 170 mm. ================== The M2/Monolever clamp width is 20.5 mm. ================== Gary Young bars should be a similar price, and possibly just a touch lighter than the regular Civilian Svelte. Chris/Odyssey Posted by: Chris Cotsonas at October 11, 2005 05:51 PMThe 2006 catalog is available. Make sure you write 2006 catalog somewhere so we dont send a 2005 one which is still available. Posted by: Jim B at October 11, 2005 08:09 PMHow much canadian cash do you want for one of the catalogs? Posted by: adam at October 11, 2005 11:51 PMi just ordered a pair of gary young bars tere fucking awsome ! tyler finnigan is a faggot hes from ventura! Posted by: knucklehead at October 12, 2005 06:50 AMthe green cable looks like a snake. Posted by: Fish at October 12, 2005 07:22 AMMy cable that burst was fitted properly, It was when I was working as a mechanic at a bike shop, so it was even fitted by a 'trained' professional. But it was a snafu astroglide jobby, and it got a kink in it it think, then burst. I thought it was funny as hell, made a great noise. Its not like i'm going on that linear cables suck, it's just I don't benefit from them. Posted by: Ben at October 12, 2005 09:31 AM"But it was a snafu astroglide"-Ben Linear Cable is an Odyssey Product. Snafu Cables are not same thing at all. Beware of imitations. Posted by: Jim B at October 12, 2005 05:20 PMhas nothing to do with parts but i hear mike aitken may be leaving fit and looking for a new ride? all these new parts are making all these new riders have all the good stuff, but o-well...the cable is the best i have the glow in dark and its about gone so ill order the green Posted by: scott at October 12, 2005 10:42 PMCmon' Mikey leaving Fit is like me never using odysy parts' again! "ISNT' HAPPENING AMIGO"!! Posted by: BIKER ON ODYSSEY at October 13, 2005 12:22 AMMike is not leaving Fit anytime soon. The linear cable principle is the same though is it not? no matter what company makes them, the metal strands run down the length of the housing as opposed to a coil along the length. I appreciate that the odyssey cable may have some kind of braided outer cover too, to make it stronger and to resist expansion under compression. I'm not bitchin on at ya here though, every part on my bike is odyssey, apart from my cranks, (which may well be the Wombolts if they come out soon) and my rear rim, because I cant afford a new hazard just yet. Its just I have never found a linear cable allows me to brake when I spin my bars any better than a standard one. Posted by: Ben at October 13, 2005 11:29 AMomg!! does thay say 10" rise on the packing for the Gary Young bars!!!! how cool would 10"ers be!! Posted by: ste at October 13, 2005 07:50 PMMy bike is all odyssey and its the best. Posted by: Zack Boysen at October 17, 2005 06:33 PMok ben, you just need to stop complaining about another companys parts and compareing them to odyssey's!! Posted by: chet at October 18, 2005 01:54 AMyou know what i was wrong i just might start buying the other brand name part's alot of killer companies out there so i won't limit myself to just odyssey all the time change is for the better. and it's my f'ing money! Posted by: BIKER ON ODYSSEY at October 19, 2005 06:07 AMgreen (since everyone else uses red now). o man, i love you guys, you set the standard w/the hazard wheels and what better proof that you own, everyone else just copies your killer ideas, and ... green is my favorite color, im speachless, n dang that thar brake cable is slic!
