So when are those couches being released?

Posted by: fkarcha at October 6, 2005 03:11 AM

Fkarcha, I was going to ask that but decided not to be an ass, however.. if you guys ever want to get rid of an ODY couch im pretty sure it would look tit's in my room.

Posted by: Laz at October 6, 2005 03:39 AM

i just have one thing to ask, What do you mean by Elementary SL, did you come up with a super light version of the elementary stem, you guys are insane

Posted by: Adam at October 6, 2005 04:07 AM

i had a fun time there.
nice to see all you guys there and i cant wait tell the cranks come out.

Posted by: shawn at October 6, 2005 07:24 AM

More info on the Elementary SL, and others, at: http://www.bikeguide.org/reports/interbike/

Posted by: Antao at October 6, 2005 02:11 PM

Those are new covers, so I have the old covers here. I would give them to FKARCHA and LAZ if you guys have the right couches, but neither of you put real emails on your post.

So I guess I have to open it up to anyone..

The first two people to send me pictures of themselves, with thier bike, on an IKEA KLIPPAN couch, get the one of two, one of a kind 2002-2004 Odyssey Booth Couch covers. Black with red and white print. (not the Blue/orange/white pictured)

send pictures to- jimb@odysseybmx.com

Maybe the new ELM stem will have a closed back end so when be tightend the back doesnt seperate and impact the headset.

Posted by: J at October 6, 2005 07:29 PM

^You've run into a serious installation error if that happened to you. I suppose running it without a headset pre-load bolt could lead to that.

For future reference, the fork's pre-load bolt should always be installed when the stem is in use.

Posted by: Chris Cotsonas at October 6, 2005 09:40 PM

odyssey forks with pre-load my friend. 10 people i know who work at shops and been riding for 10 years like i have had this problem. this is the only stem i have ever had a problem with. better luck with a 15 buck hoffman stem. ODY 06 forks are awsome.

Posted by: j at October 6, 2005 10:50 PM

Jim B is such a tease! :P

*adds Jim to list of BMX industry folks to drink under the table*

Posted by: fkarcha at October 6, 2005 11:08 PM

We wouldn't make the stem if it didn't work with a headset. This has to be down to installation. I've put the stem on hundreds of times and this has never been an issue. Not to mention that there are thousands of stems being used, including by our own team riders and office staff. I know without a doubt that they wouldn't put up with a problem of this nature.

I'm guessing that this is down to the sequence/method in which the stem bolt and pre-load are tightened, or maybe the steerer tube is too short.

As the instructions call out, the stem's lock bolt should only be hand tight before the pre-load bolt is installed and secured into place. Tightening the stem's lock bolt too much before the proper headset tension has been reached will lead to issues, and could even cause the back of the stem to "spread". As I'm sure you can see, if the pre-load bolt is installed properly and tightened correctly, then it's practically impossible for the back of the stem to open up (the opposite actually happens)...unless the stem is being tightened with a loose or uninstalled fork pre-load bolt.

In the future, if you're ever having a problem with one of our product's, I strongly suggest calling or e-mailing ASAP for assistance.

im feeling the new camo, i like the orange with white on the laf too, the seniors seats are cool too, way to go odyssey!

Posted by: Lucas at October 7, 2005 12:04 AM

Fkarcha, do you have one of these couches? I will send you the cover if you do.

Posted by: Jim B at October 7, 2005 12:04 AM

everything was done.pre-load was on and the bottom end of the back would get pushed down. i had a solid headset. did it many of different ways cuz i liked the weight. i emailed you but you never said anything. so ive been stickin to the ol' chock full stem. dont know if it mattered. but the elm stem i got had only one washer as well. i can send the stem back to ya guys if ya want. it just sits admist of old ody forks, stems, rims, some frames, some bikes, crank, and so forth. plus used the stem with ody 04, 05, and 06 dirt forks. all the same thing. 04 had a long tube so the length couldnt of been a problem.

Posted by: j at October 7, 2005 12:13 AM

when are you guys going to make a frame?

Posted by: J at October 7, 2005 12:26 AM

I demand some pics of the purple sunday bike! The people have the right to know!

Posted by: jarred b at October 7, 2005 01:43 AM

How much clamping power does the elementary stem have compared to that of a S&M Redneck? A reply from a team rider that uses the stem (Jim C. or Jimmy LeVann, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. I simply want the strongest stem possible so my bars NEVER slip. Also, any plans for a kevlar covered Senior seat? Thanks!

Posted by: cm08 at October 7, 2005 03:25 AM

Kink_Anti_Rider@Hotmail.com that's my Email, I put that in and it changes it or some crazy crap, it wont let me save info either, sorry for any problems, i would love one of those covers, and do you know what's up with my G-sport hub shell warentee? knowing that info would be killer, and you could use the cover for return packing filler *wink wink* anyway, sorry for any Email problems.. let me know what is up with those covers, and my hub shell if you can find that out without it being a pain..

I'm too much of a redneck to have anything from Scandinavia. Can I use it as drapes?

Posted by: fkarcha at October 7, 2005 05:43 AM

opps i just pissed myself when i saw that digital camo. hey i swore i suggested that idea months ago. i may have even said use marpat or digital. am i going to get any credit for that? if not no big whoop. yo i am so stoked on the new stuff about to drop.

how about coming out with gum/natural rubber tires and cables?

how about coming out with 41 therm spokes for your wheels?

how about coming out with... well its too hard to come up with idea's. you guys already beat me to most of them....

ugh doo.

burned.

so no care package i take it.

Posted by: 3MTA3/pokertron at October 7, 2005 08:57 PM

is there such things as spacers for the cassette? cuz it would be easier to put spacers with the cog to align the chain insted on the crank.

Posted by: J at October 7, 2005 11:56 PM

Hey, is that a new Metal frame coming out? I'm a big fan of Odyssey and Metal.

Posted by: carl at October 8, 2005 12:19 AM
