G-Sport update.

View image

Just a little post to keep you updated on the progress of the G-Sport hubs. We just received these samples which seem to look pretty good. Note the G-Sport etched into the collars. These hubs will feature a 7075 shell, angled flanges and steel helicoil thread inserts. Also, despite what you may think, these hubs are on the light side due to the materials and thread in style axle. Production should be under way pretty soon, so we may be seeing these by late July (hopefully).
**these hubs are not available now**

G-Sport G.L.A.N.D.S. should be showing up in better shops and mailorders right about now.

Those look sick. Front hub should be on my bike soon as it's out. Any idea on the possibilty of a G-Sport Cassette?

Posted by: Nate Lasovich at May 26, 2005 03:30 PM

Nuno, it was a tie. Fair and square.

Posted by: Nate Lasovich at May 26, 2005 03:31 PM

those are kinda kool i guess but i would still rather have the original cassette.

Posted by: krany at May 26, 2005 03:34 PM

I think there pretty ugly and profile actually came up with the front style first. I'm just into your good hubs like the cassete and freeloader freecoaster.

Posted by: runlikedog at May 26, 2005 03:35 PM

Looks almost the same as the other G sport hubs, with the "buy anywhere axles"...nice!

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'.

Posted by: brian at May 26, 2005 06:04 PM

Did they really runlikedog ?

That's very wierd, because when I started making them ELEVEN YEARS AGO, I dont remember seeing anything even vaguely like them from Profile or anyone else.... :-)

Posted by: G-Sport George at May 26, 2005 06:17 PM

they dont really look light, but i guess they are

Posted by: fit ryder at May 26, 2005 06:39 PM

Alright Mr. G to the Sport, I gotts ta ask yah a question. The yorkshire bottom bracket, you know, how did you make the plastic cups for it, and could you use a regular american cup on it, (I got Solid cranks so I stuck with Amer.)

Also I do like the new look of the hubs, I must say, don't skip up on the qualilty to save weight, or I will have to slap some up.

Weight < Quaility

Posted by: FIZAT at May 26, 2005 06:43 PM

are they gunna be any 14mm front 48h ones?

Posted by: mike at May 26, 2005 06:54 PM

Yes, the Homer front hub will be available.

Nice hubs. I got the original UK made.

You can just machine the cups on a lathe with a 3 jaw chuck (go to a machine shop to machine them out, - they should be cheap, or buy a table lathe and their accesories and learn for your self if you have the money and time)

Nylon 6 can be obtained from Mc Master Carr CHEAP.

By the way G came up with the idea first,
NOT those bastards at Profile.

Posted by: Jezabelle Redford at May 26, 2005 10:04 PM

oh forgot first you have to machine them to fit for your American BB AND soilds bearings. Use the dimension of your solid cups but make them thicker along the axis of the spindle where the bearings rests and take TWO measeruments of YOUR BB shell size too with a dial caliper and make an average measurement ofthe ID...

Posted by: Jezabelle Redford at May 26, 2005 10:19 PM

woohoo..20something comment! :-)

Posted by: daddy at May 27, 2005 02:03 AM

Monkey and Marmoset hubs use aluminium axles.
The homer (14mm equivilent) uses a steel axle but it is very hollow so weight is still good.

The Yorkshire BB uses cups slightly smaller than those on a US BB. You can turn up plastic cups as I did or simply turn a little material off existing US cups to fit.

Plastic cups for US BB are another option and as posted above can simply be turned from cast Nylon 6 bar, available at most plastics suppliers.

This is probably not the best place to ask complex questions like this. e.mail is a much better bet.

Posted by: Krany at May 27, 2005 03:56 PM

Who cares who came out with them first Profile hubs are better.

Posted by: Patrickp at May 27, 2005 10:15 PM

profile hubs arent better i know a shitload of people who have bent and snapped profile axles and if you read the gsport website only ONE gsport homer axle has ever bent or broken plus the bearings are fucking HUGE whick means they dont break and roll smoother.

good to see 7075 on the hubs, did the old ones have 7075 or 6061 im not sure and a friend of mine who has the marmoset is worried about the decline in quality from the uk made which was bragged about on the gsport website to the oddysey factory in taiwan or wherever.

ps oddy and gsport rules

Will the Titanium Homer bolts be more readily available in the U.S.?

Posted by: carv4130 at May 28, 2005 06:58 PM

which front hub is lighter?
homer hub
hazard hub

Posted by: pack at May 29, 2005 05:51 AM

i guess there pretty nice... i would just stick with the regular odyssey hub though

Posted by: fitbikecoman at May 30, 2005 06:30 PM

stop talking about hubs and go out and ride... just like i am about too

Posted by: fitbikecoman at May 30, 2005 06:32 PM

idc i still think the odyssey flip flop hub rules!

Posted by: runlikefido at May 31, 2005 02:35 PM

i had a profile front hub with the female axle design and a piece of the hub shell actually broke off so it was promptly replaced with a TREE hub which is sweet.

i am planning on purchasing a homer rear hub because it has quite possibly the best design ever for a freewheel hub plus my profile cassette is a piece of shit w/tiny bearings that just go to crap

Posted by: zach0124 at May 31, 2005 04:51 PM

Ti bolts.....anyone??
