This stem is deffinatly a real good desighn, but unfoutunatly it is not nearly long enough for the tall dudes.

It's 50 mm's - clearly the average for a street stem. How long would you want the reach to be?

Good instructions so kids won't be screwing up their stems and blaming Odyssey for it.

i agree with chris. this stem is standard length. i'm 6'4" also and i would never run a stemm longer than 50mm reach. it makes x-ups, barspins and turndowns awkward becuase longer reach means when facing the seat, it will be closer to your knees. getting a longer frame is the only real solution for being vertically bountiful.

Yeah i agree with some of you this stem rocks and its really origanal. good job odyssey,but i cant aford to move to this yet and i dont need to i have a nice basic hoffman fist and the bars dotn move so im good, but if i ever need to i know what im getting this thing is just awsome

do they slip at all cause i wont to get it but i dont no how good they really are

i just got my stem today and it took me half an hour to put it on because it wouldnt fit on the steerer tube. Another thing is ,it already slipped a couple times today and i tightened it plenty. what should i do?

If it's slipping then it's probably installed incorrectly or under-tightened. Read through the instructions again. Be sure the that the handlebar's knurling area is clean. There's no reason for it to ever slip if everything is set-up correctly.

Regarding the steerer tube:

Steerer tube sizes are all over the place. Some actually measure in at LARGER than 1-1/8". Which is incorrect. However, most hover in just slightly below the standard 28.575 size. This includes our forks, Pitchforks, Fit Forks, the new MacNeil fork, etc.

There really shouldn't ever be a fit issue, but if for some reason there is, then you should let us know right away via e-mail. It's something that can be addressed very easily.

the stem is freakin insane. its easy to install/adjust and it hasn't moved at all. god i love it!

I love the way it all comes together i just bought a new stem and now i find dans comp is stocking this stem dammit. ill pick one up a bit later down the track maybe in a month or two. if everyone who gets one loves it maybe you guys at odyssey could look at improving its looks for the guys who think its too ugly. i dont care i think this thing looks sweet.

I'm looking into getting the new elementry stem and i want to knoe if it slips alot or stays put. Do the pros any pros run and have they had a problem with it. Let me know soon, if you can, and be honest about it cause you could probably be trying to just make sales or your stem could be the bomb-s#&t. The stems going great...but more designers need to get there act together and not just make George French do all the work because progression in the bike engineering industry is so damn slow...

dude, this stem is just unbelivable I could tell straight away compared to regular stems. I havent taken it out for a ride yet but I can just tell from the simplicity and the way it goes together than nothing will come close I mean cmon look at all the regular stems theyre just blocks of aluminium and a few bolts. This is the first stem to be engineered with any thought and my god those engineers can sleep well knowing that they made something groudbreaking. Buy the damn stem, install it, and then build a church in its honour.
Im lucky enough to own nearly every part on my bike odyssey apart from obviously the frame and tyres, and this stem is my favourite part on my whole bike by a mile.

oh yeh forgot one thing. Ugly? bullshit. Ive got it bolted on and it looks interesting in one word. but ugly doesnt come to my mind at all. put it on your bike, ride it and then tell me if you want to go back to your old brick of aluminium just bcos u still think its ugly when it works better than a platinum plated s&M redneck lite and all the bling bling. i actually think it looks better than my last stem. just buy one u idiots u dont kno wat ur missing out on by not owning one......

yeh toke to alvin i was running a stem with 53mm reach before and im 6 2' no real problems my knees get caught up sometimes but this stem is better than my last. It slipped a little today but I didnt quite have it right i was in a rush to get it together. adjusted it again and its been awesome so far but ill let u guys know if it slips again. dont think it will though. im also in alot of shit for tearing up benchs at the local schools from grinds. still not gonna stop me. bmx for life!

Can you get a Ti bolt and nut for this stem? That would make me want to switch from my fly stem.

You could get an engineering company to do that for you. Why bother. Good luck trying to break this thing anyway.
