oooohhhh , they're flatland tires. cool.

Posted by: Mitch at February 6, 2004 03:24 PM

Wow. So many arrows pointing me in the flat direction. Will they ever be released in 2.10?

Posted by: Dex at February 6, 2004 03:26 PM

Adam Banton and I are using it, so while it is designed for flat, by a flatlander, it works great on street and park and pools(and dirt for that matter).

Posted by: Jim at February 6, 2004 03:33 PM

1.85 only first, maybe a bigger one later on.

Posted by: Jim at February 6, 2004 03:34 PM

is the rototiller "knobbier" than the overbite?
im wondering because im thinking about the rototiler for the back, and i have an overbite in the front, and i cant stand when my backs "knobbier" than my front. knobby's a funny word.

Posted by: wes at February 6, 2004 03:52 PM

OverBite is the Knobbiest, The Rototiller center tread is a little faster/smoother. It is a good Front or rear.

Posted by: Jim at February 6, 2004 05:13 PM

is jim c in athens or ever coming back for that matter. there is a contest at empire skatepark in logansville ga feb. 21.

Posted by: t*c at February 6, 2004 06:02 PM

Was that tire previously released or why is it redesigned?

Posted by: heng at February 6, 2004 06:27 PM

by how much is the rototiller smoother than the overbite?

Posted by: wes at February 6, 2004 06:52 PM

i bet it will be only a matter of time before some company makes a hot pink tire

Posted by: .... at February 6, 2004 06:57 PM

hey .... i think kenda is the closest to that one. orange, yellow, blue, green you name it they got it. its almost rediculous
I WOULD BY ONLY BLACK TIRES BUT MY LOCAL SHOP ONLY BRINGS IN COLOR TIRES CAUSE THATS WHAT MAKES MONEY CAUSE THATS ALL THAT THE KIDS BUY IS COLOR TIRES AND THATS WHAT MY LOCAL SHOP OWNER IS ALL ABOUT IS THE CIZ-ASH!!! or maybe i am just angry because he wont sponsor me. i dont really know... whew

looks good good job

lighter than path?

Posted by: john at February 7, 2004 08:26 PM

dude, a tires weight shouldnt matter. if its really lite, the sidewalls will probably blow ass, then you will be whining about that. somethings you just cant afford to weaken.

my guess on what this is a re-desgin of is the groundwork.

Posted by: bemo at February 7, 2004 08:52 PM

that would make a great tire belt!! after it was ridden for a good anount of time... in fact i dont think it would last to become a tire belt

Posted by: matt at February 8, 2004 12:01 AM

Dude, a tires weight can matter more than you think. Not in a means to lighten the bike, its rotating weight...look it up

Posted by: dude at February 8, 2004 04:33 PM

thanx for backin me up

Inertia is everything! Wight when spinning is like 4 times the original weight...look up 'inertia' on the intersuperformationhighway and have a read, interesting shiz-nit!

Posted by: Dao at February 8, 2004 10:05 PM

that's a badass tire. hey jim what happened to the idea of hazard lites in black chrome? i remember the ad that said "coming soon!" but haven't seen anything since. bring on the black chrome.

Posted by: bikedog at February 9, 2004 11:57 AM

im not going for a downhill world record top speed or anything so i would rather have a durable tire. pretty much, if you dont ride a 2-hip pork the weight of your bike wont hurt you much. unless you are one of those pussies who cant bunnyhop.
btw, my bike doesn't weigh that much, but its like like im shaving weight in every way. i mean come on, a sprocket weighing you down too much? a FUCKING tire weighing you down too much? you gotta be kidding me.

Posted by: scott at February 9, 2004 12:16 PM

okay, im sorry about my last post, i was just fired up a bit. im just the type of guy who gets mad at the mere speaking of the word ounces when it comes to a bikes weight.

Posted by: scott at February 9, 2004 12:19 PM

Black chrome was an idea where the prototypes where awesome, and couldn't be re-produced in production, I still have no idea why. Instead we chose to do Duralectra Black because it is more durable than chrome, and brakes work on it also. So there is no Black Chrome.

Posted by: Jim at February 9, 2004 12:49 PM

Hey Jim why are you talking about rims? I was asking why are the tires redesigned, where they different tires that where out before or what?

Posted by: heng at February 9, 2004 09:51 PM

The Postal Service kicks ass, i just got there cd, like it matters though

Posted by: Joe B. at February 9, 2004 10:45 PM

If you read the posts, some one asking about black chrome rims, While it has no place in this thread I will still answer the question.
The Re-Design part meant that the tire was based off the RL-edge from the 80's.

i'm wondering if so many people ride fat tires?
most of the people i see nowadays try 1,75 or 1,85 and stick with them.

Posted by: seppl at February 14, 2004 02:02 AM

I run 1.85 tires and love them, most of the flatlanders I know don't ride anything bigger than 1.95, it just doesn't make sense. Thinner tires spin and roll a lot faster..

Posted by: alex caps at February 14, 2004 09:36 PM

nice job on the tires chase... i wanna pick up one for my rear wheel

Posted by: Corey at March 31, 2004 11:55 PM

Hey,
Why dus everyone care about wieghht so much. Barely makes a diference, and cum on, tyres being 2 heavy thats fuken stupid. U people who think that r pussies.

The men of experiment are like the ant, they only collect and use, the reasoners resemble spiders, who make cobwebs out of their own substance. But the bee takes the middle course, it gathers its material from the flowers of the garden and field, but transforms and digests it by a power of its own. Not unlike this is the true business of philosophy, for it neither relies solely or chiefly on the powers of the mind, nor does it take the matter which it gathers from natural history and mechanical experiments and lay up in the memory whole, as it finds it, but lays it up in the understanding altered and disgested.

If biologists have ignored self organization, it is not because self ordering is not pervasive and profound. It is because we biologists have yet to understand how to think about systems governed simultaneously by two sources of order, Yet who seeing the snowflake, who seeing simple lipid molecules cast adrift in water forming themselves into cell like hollow lipid vesicles, who seeing the potential for the crystallization of life in swarms of reacting molecules, who seeing the stunning order for free in networks linking tens upon tens of thousands of variables, can fail to entertain a central thought, if ever we are to attain a final theory in biology, we will surely, surely have to understand the commingling of self organization
and selection.

Nannobacteria are very small living creatures in the 0.05 to 0.2 micrometer range. In this review by their discoverer,it is conjectured that nannobacteria run most of the earth surface chemistry and form most of the world biomass. Nevertheless, they remain biota incognita to the biological world as their genetic relationships, metabolism, and other characteristics remain to be investigated.

For it is esteemed a kind of dishonour unto learning to descend to inquiry or meditation upon matters mechanical, except they be such as may be thought secrets, rarities, and special subtilities, which humour of vain supercilious arrogancy is justly derided in Plato. But the truth is, they be not the highest instances that give the securest information, as may well be expressed in the tale of the philosopher, that while he gazed upwards to the stars fell into the water, for if he had looked down he might have seen the stars in the water, but looking aloft he could not see the water in the stars.

Some fishes become extinct, but Herrings go on forever. Herrings spawn at all times and places and nothing will induce them to change their ways. They have no fish control. Herrings congregate in schools, where they learn nothing at all. They move in vast numbers in May and October. Herrings subsist upon Copepods and Copepods subsist upon Diatoms and Diatoms just float around and reproduce. Young Herrings or Sperling or Whitebait are rather cute. They have serrated abdomens.

Only gradually did I realize that this lack of qualification could be an advantage. By the time most scientists have reached age thirty they are trapped by their own expertise. They have invested so much effort in one particular field that it is often extremely difficult, at that time in their careers, to make a radical change. I, on the other hand, knew nothing, except for a basic training in somewhat old fashioned physics and mathematics and an ability to turn my hand to new things.

Like many other crucially important technologies, hay emerged anonymously during the so called Dark Ages. According to the Hay Theory of History, the invention of hay was the decisive event which moved the center of gravity of urban civilization from the Mediterranean basin to Northern and Western Europe. The Roman Empire did not need hay because in a Mediterranean climate the grass grows well enough in winter for animals to graze.
