A couple events this month

There are a couple events going on this month. One is happening this weekend on the 25th at Shields Skatepark (Flemington, New Jersey). The contest starts at 11am in the morning, so make sure to drink plenty of milk and get a good night’s rest. The second event is put on by Redbull. Titled, “Fight with Flight,” the jam will be going down inside of an airplane hanger on the 31st. Hit up the jump for full flyers.

Internet update

Nuno Oliveira Q&A over at ESPN

Odyssey Mailing List

The internet got updated again. I suppose it happens ever nanosecond, but who’s counting? Here are a few things to look at and click on. First, congrats to Gary Young for taking home 2nd place at this year’s Simpel Sessions. Hit up the jump to catch some clips of him in the best trick comp and in qualifying. Second, Nuno has a Q&A over at the ESPN website and third, we have a new mailing list setup. Subscribe to get news and special updates sent directly to your inbox.

Terry Adams update!

Photos by Robby Klein.

Terry Adams sent over a couple new photos and a t-shirt graphic to us recently. He’s been rocking a lot of Flatware goodies on his bike and we’ll have a bike check for him soon. In the mean time, check out these pics.

“NO IT AINT! NOW YOU’RE GONNA GO TO JAIL FOR IT!”

In the stands

This is a little late but it’s something we’re going to start doing each time we get a new issue in the mail. If you hit up the jump, you’ll find a mini table of contents highlighting Odyssey related pages in the magazines. First up is the latest issues of Dig and Ride (US). I believe we have a Ride UK and Cream floating around in the office somewhere but I’m having trouble tracking them down.

What’s in a name?

Back in 1985, the original owner, brother of the current owner Richard, saw the name on the side of a truck. Odyssey. Legend has it that they created the logo in black and white and gave it to his kid to color in. That logo is the logo we now call “retro,” Aaron Ross’ favorite one. – Jim Bauer

Ride BMX has a feature up discussing the origins of company names. Above is the history behind the name “Odyssey”.

Too Much Information?

We're on Twitter!

I just started a rough Twitter page for Odyssey to give you all of the latest info at the drop of a Driver hat.

Are we looking at prototypes?  Eating at Wood Ranch?  Dodging 18-wheelers with RC cars?  In a meeting?  Shooting an ad?  Designing new stuff?  Building wheels?  Learning new tricks?  Watching “sponsor me” tapes?  Admiring graphite pencil drawings of Aaron Ross?

If you care to find out, now you can know.

Odyssey fitted caps

These are our new fitted caps manufactured by Estate. They’re based out of Los Angeles and make all the hats there as well. The “Driver” is a standard fitted cap in Orange/Blue (basically NY Mets colors), and the “Pirate” is a Pillbox style cap in Brown with Orange letters.

The hats are available now in select shops/mailorders or on our online store (while supplies last).
