Instead of shooting plastic into the JC mold, the JC PC was designed from the ground up, with many new ideas and only the JC shape in mind. The pledals have an ingenious way of attaching the body to the spindle. There is no spindle bolt hole. The pedal splits down the center, where the two mating sides sandwich around the spindle. Joining the two sides is achieved by the pins that thread into the mating side with replaceable steel nuts. This style of build creates an ultralight plastic pedal with the durability of an alloy pedal. In addition to weight savings, the grind options are multiplied compared to the metal version.
So will we be able to just buy a new pedal body when it wears out and keep the spindle or will have to buy a whole new set of pedals?
George ( September 25th, 2008 at 4:04 pm ):
This is super sick! they should have made an alloy one like this too. the design works great because i rip pins through the threads on the alloy jc pedal all the time and with this design, i could replace the nut and bolt instead of never getting a pin back. and a huge spindle! will u guys ever reconsider redesigning the alloy jc into a split replaceable pin design like the plastic???
john ( September 25th, 2008 at 6:28 pm ):
WOOOT! WHEN??
roger ( September 25th, 2008 at 9:55 pm ):
is there a way to adjust how much the pedals spin? i hate loose pedals that spin wildly.
colin ( September 25th, 2008 at 11:15 pm ):
the main reason i use twisted pcs is to avoid metal pins tearing up my shins. not a fan of the jcpcs.
keith ( September 26th, 2008 at 12:32 am ):
I guess now when these come in colours and transparent designs people will be sandwiching two different colours to the spindle.
Afterwards the pins will come in different colours and lengths
cm08 ( September 27th, 2008 at 9:27 am ):
I will be buying these as soon as they are available. Will they come with different length pins? HELL YEAH!
YES you can tighten the pin-bolts extra hard to control how easily the bodies spin; from a free spin right down to very stiff.
YES the axle is a 17mm external hex and 6mm internal broach for a 6mm allen key. The axle is 15mm at the fat end and hollow. The strongest pedal axle there is.
YES replacement body halves will be available. Body halves last a very long time even when ground on. We will be doing colours so you can rig the pedals up with (for example) a red grinding side and a green pedalling side, with short bolts (ie. no pins) to the grinding side. So you can look down and know which side you are standing on, smooth or with pins.
No access hole on the outside end means no cap to fall out and let in crap.
Axle and body design makes the pedal incredibly resistant to end impacts and impacts in general.
We have been working on these for over 2 years with extensive ride and static testing.
I’m not seeing the upsides of these pedals. They are heavier than twisted pcs as well as more complicated and they won’t be as cheap. I thought the whole idea of pc pedals was the $15 cost. BMX is supposed to be simple. I suggest that they release just solid pc jim c pedals because they are better geometrically than the twisteds.
quonch ( September 30th, 2008 at 4:26 am ):
Oh and it looks like its just flappin around on the spindle without any bearings.
bobbyp ( September 30th, 2008 at 7:47 am ):
the time of bmx being simple is long gone my friend. if you are looking for simple bmx bikes then go to wal-mart. this is where real bmxers come.
1. Yes, they are a little heavier than the Twisted PC, about 3 ounces on a pair. But they are still only 17oz for a pair, which is considerably lighter than most pedals with steel pins.
2. They are CONSIDERABLY stronger than the twisted PC, probably 2 to 3 times as strong. At 15mm the hollow axle is designed to last indefinitely and replacement pedal body halves will be relatively cheap.
3. Because the axle is so durable, and ALL the other parts are cheap and easy to replace, the OVERALL cost after a year or two is likely to be considerably lower than replacing Twisted PCs every 6 months or so. We are looking at a target price for the pedals of about $35-40 but a full set of the plastic body parts will be around $10 ($5 per pedal), and because you ONLY have to replace the damaged part they are likely to work out very economical.
4. Yes there are no balls. The entire body is made of a bearing grade plastic and you have to remember that we arent just replacing a narrow steel bearing with a narrow plastic one, the bearing surface runs pretty much the full width of the pedal. Far from “flapping about” the design of the pedal allows you to tune the bearing to the spin you like, you can simply tighten the bolts more to stiffen the pedal up (so that pedals dont move during tricks) or leave them free to spin if you prefer.
We have been riding these pedals for around 2 years now, and EVERYONE who has tried them likes them.
I hope this helps you keep an open mind and that you will TRY them before jumping to too many conclusions…

When will these be available?
erenes ( September 30th, 2008 at 10:59 pm ):
I recently bend 9 pairs of Odsy PC, cause I like gaps to flat & such kind of tricks. Ball bearing pedals are bending so much easier than evan pedals with sealed bearings (bushing is usually supporting the ~12mm axle) on the crankarm side. (vs.ball bearings bening the 10-11mm axle so easily). Hope that these hollow thick axles will sort out my problems.

ive seen pics of your broken bike parts before erenes, you shouldnt be riding plastic pedals

Wasn’t the whole point of the Twisted PC’s to keep you from tearing up your shins when you slip? This is basically a weaker alloy pedal. I guess it’s a cool concept. I think I’ll stick with my twisteds though.

Why is this pedal named JCPC?
It should be named the G pedal or something, seeing that it’s actually G who designed them.

getting them!
will the spindle be pretty tight and is there any way to adjust how much the pedals spin?? weight??
oh they look so cool, good job guys!
question: where are the bearings?
oh sorry, and also does the spindle have the 6mm allen key insert?

Pins are standard off-the-shelf nuts and bolts widely available in a huge range of lengths.
Are you going to make these things a U.S. patent or not worry about it?
